Favre Leuba

‘A legacy that stands the test of time’

Founded in 1737 by Abraham Favre in Le Locle, Favre-Leuba is the second oldest Swiss watch brand in the world. A pioneer at heart, the brand has made a name for itself with legendary timepieces such as the Bivouac (1962), the first wristwatch to feature a barometric altimeter, and the Bathy (1966), the first mechanical wrist-worn depth gauge.

During the 18th century, Swiss watchmaking experienced a meteoric rise, and many of today’s famous brands were founded in Le Locle, a small town nestled in the Swiss Jura mountains.

At the forefront of the Swiss watchmaking movement was Abraham Favre, who was eventually crowned ‘Master Watchmaker of Le Locle’. Many generations of the watchmaker’s family worked to carry on his renowned legacy, alongside Auguste Leuba, a native of Buttes in the Val-de-Travers, thereby creating a brand that has continued to push the boundaries ever since.
